The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 and when the mountains are moved, 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 For what sin she was killed 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 that hide, 16 And the night when it departs, 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 When whither go ye? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 And you do not will except that Allah wills - Lord of the worlds. 29
