Do not those who disbelieve see that the heavens and the earth were closed up, but We have opened them; and We have made of water everything living, will they not then believe? 30 And We have placed in the earth firm hills lest it quake with them, and We have placed therein ravines as roads that haply they may find their way. 31 And We have made the heaven a roof, safe, and from the signs thereof they are averters. 32 It is He who created night and day, the sun and the moon, revolving on its orbit. 33 We have given no man everlastingness before you. So then if you die, will they live ever after? 34 Every soul will know the taste of death. We tempt you with evil and with good as a trial; and to Us you will return. 35 But when the unbelievers see you they make fun of you (and say): "Is this the one who mentions your gods (deridingly)?" Yet in Ar-Rahman they disbelieve! 36 Man is a creature of haste; [but in time] I shall make obvious to you [the truth of] My messages: do not, then, ask Me to hasten [it]! 37 But they [who reject My messages are wont to] ask, "When is that promise [of God's judgment] to be fulfilled? [Answer this, O you who believe in it,] if you are men of truth!" 38 Had those who disbelieve but known (of the time) when they shall not be able to ward off the fire from their faces nor from their backs, nor shall they be helped. 39 It will come upon them unawares confounding them, and they will not be able to keep it back, nor will they be given respite. 40 And indeed the Noble Messengers before you were mocked at, but their mockery ruined the mockers themselves. 41
