(O Prophet), did you see him who turned away (from the Path of Allah), 33 and gives a little, and then grudgingly? 34 Is with him the knowledge of the unseen so that he sees? 35 Or hath he not had news of what is in the books of Moses 36 And of Ibrahim (Abraham) who fulfilled (or conveyed) all that (what Allah ordered him to do or convey), 37 That no burdened soul bears another soul’s burden? 38 That man can have nothing but what he strives for; 39 and that [the fruit of] his striving shall soon be seen; 40 and in the end he will be repaid for it in full; 41 and that the final return is to your Lord, 42 and that it is He who makes to laugh, and that makes to weep, 43 That it is He Who granteth Death and Life; 44 and that it is He who created pairs, the male and the female, 45 from an ejaculated drop (of sperm), 46 and that upon Him rests the second growth, 47 It is He who grants people temporary and durable wealth. 48 And that He (Allah) is the Lord of Sirius (the star which the pagan Arabs used to worship); 49 And that He destroyed the first [people of] 'Aad 50 And the Thamud nor gave them a lease of perpetual life. 51 and before them the people of Noah who were even more unjust and insolent; 52 And the overthrown cities did He overthrow, 53 So that they were covered over by what they were covered over. 54 Concerning which then, of the bounties of thy Lord, canst thou dispute? 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 The (Judgment) ever approaching draws nigh: 57 There shall be none besides Allah to remove it. 58 Are you astonished at this news, 59 And will you laugh and not weep? 60 while you are thoughtless? 61 Rather, prostrate to Allah and worship Him. ۩ 62
