The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 And water poured out 31 and fruit abounding, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 And have made them virgins. 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
