The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 those who, when they are to receive their due from [other] people, demand that it be given in full 2 but when they have to measure or weigh whatever they owe to others, give less than what is due! 3 Do those not think that they shall be raised up 4 On a Great Day, 5 a Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeen. 7 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Sijjin is? 8 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record. 9 Woe on that Day unto the beliers 10 Those who belie the Day of Requital. 11 And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner!) 12 And when Our revelations are rehearsed unto him, he saith: fables of the ancients! 13 By no means! but on their hearts is the stain of the (ill) which they do! 14 No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned. 15 and then they shall enter Hell, 16 Then it will be said [to them], "This is what you used to deny." 17 But, the record of the righteous is [preserved] in the 'Illiyyin -- 18 But how will you comprehend what 'Illiyun is? 19 It is a Book inscribed, 20 To which bear witness those brought nigh. 21 Lo! the righteous verily are in delight, 22 reclining on couches, reviewing (the bounties given to them). 23 You will recognize in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine, sealed, 25 which have the fragrance of musk. This is the kind of place for which one should really aspire. 26 a wine tempered with the waters of Tasnim, 27 The spring from which drink the ones close to Allah. 28 Indeed, those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery); 30 And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting. 31 And when they saw them, they said: "They have indeed gone astray." 32 But they had not been sent as guardians over them. 33 But on this Day the believers will laugh at the unbelievers 34 On Thrones (of Dignity) they will command (a sight) (of all things). 35 Are not the disbelievers paid (fully) for what they used to do? 36
