The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
CONSIDER the heavens and that which comes in the night! 1 And what will make you to know what At-Tariq (night-comer) is? 2 The star of piercing brightness; 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 So let man look - from what is he created. 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 issuing from between the loins [of man] and the pelvic arch [of woman]. 7 Most surely He is able to return him (to life). 8 The Day when secrets will be put on trial, 9 Then man will have no power or any helper. 10 By the Firmament which returns (in its round), 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 and it is certainly not a jest. 14 They are planning a scheme, 15 But I am planning a plan. 16 Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
End of Surah: The Comet (Al-Taareq). Sent down in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
