Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 in a garden sublime, 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 cushions ranged, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 you are not their keeper. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
