Has the story reached you, of the honoured guests [three angels; Jibrael (Gabriel) along with another two] of Ibrahim (Abraham)? 24 Behold, they entered his presence, and said: "Peace!" He said, "Peace!" (and thought, "These seem) unusual people." 25 So he hurried to the house and brought a fatted calf, 26 And placing it before them said: "Won't you eat?" 27 Then he conceived a fear about them, and they said: 'Have no fear', and gave him the glad tidings that he was to have a knowledgeable son. 28 But his wife came forward (laughing) aloud: she smote her forehead and said: "A barren old woman!" 29 They said: "Thus said your Lord. He is indeed all-wise and all-knowing." 30 ۞ [Abraham] said, "Then what is your business [here], O messengers?" 31 They said: Lo! we are sent unto a guilty folk, 32 To send down upon them stones of baked clay. 33 They are transgressors in the presence of your Lord". 34 Then We evacuated those of the Believers who were there, 35 But We found in it only one household of those who had surrendered themselves, 36 We left therein evidence for those who fear the painful torment. 37 There is another sign in Moses: We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 but he turned his back, with his court, saying, 'A sorcerer, or a man possessed!' 39 We therefore seized him and his army and threw them into the sea, while he was blaming himself. 40 There is another sign in the [tribe of] 'Ad, when We sent against them a life-destroying wind 41 It left nothing of what it came upon but that it made it like disintegrated ruins. 42 And in [the story of the tribe of] Thamud, too, when they were told, "You shall enjoy your life for [but] a little while," 43 Then they turned in disdain from the commandment of their Lord, and the thunderbolt took them and they themselves beholding 44 they could neither stand up straight, nor were they helped. 45 [We destroyed] the people of Noah before them. They were certainly a sinful people. 46
