He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 Yet for all thou didst know, [O Muhammad,] he might perhaps have grown in purity, 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 Yet you pay attention 5 So you are after him! 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 and in awe [of God] 9 You neglect. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 and angelic scribes. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
