The chiefs of Pharaoh's people said: Lo! this is some knowing wizard, 109 and said, "He wants to expel you from your land." They asked (others), " what is your opinion in the matter? 110 They said: "Put him and his brother off (for a time), and send callers (men) to the cities to collect (and) - 111 That they may bring to you every enchanter possessed of knowledge. 112 And the wizards came to Pharaoh, saying: Surely there will be a reward for us if we are victors. 113 Pharaoh replied, "Certainly, and you shall also become my courtiers." 114 So they said: "O Moses, you may cast your spell first, or we shall cast ours." 115 He said, "Throw," and when they threw, they bewitched the eyes of the people and struck terror into them, and they presented a great [feat of] magic. 116 And We revealed to Musa, saying: Cast your rod; then lo! it devoured the lies they told. 117 ۞ So the truth came to pass, and false was proved what they were doing. 118 Pharaoh and his men were defeated and utterly humiliated. 119 and the sorcerers prostrated themselves, 120 saying: 'We believe in the Lord of the Worlds, 121 “The Lord of Moosa and Haroon.” 122 But Pharaoh said: "You have come to accept belief in Him without my permission! This surely is a plot you have hatched to expel the people from the land. You will soon come to know. 123 I will cut off your hands and feet on the alternate sides and crucify you all." 124 They said, "Indeed, to our Lord we will return. 125 "The only reason you have to hate us is that we believed in the signs of our Lord as they came to us. O our Lord, give us sufficient endurance that we may die submitting (to You)." 126
