Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
CONSIDER these [messages,] sent forth in waves 1 storming tempestuously 2 Which scatter clouds to their destined places, 3 And those [angels] who bring criterion 4 by those who bring down the reminder, 5 excusing or warning, 6 BEHOLD, all that you are told to expect will surely come to pass. 7 So when stars are effaced. 8 And when the sky is riven asunder, 9 And when the mountains are made into dust and blown away. 10 And when the Messengers are gathered to their time appointed; 11 For what day has the term [of all this] been set? 12 For the Day of Sorting out. 13 What will explain to you what the Day of Judgement is? 14 On that day, woe will be to those who have rejected God's revelations! 15 Did We not destroy the ancient people 16 Then We will follow them with the later ones. 17 [for] thus do We deal with such as are lost in sin. 18 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 19 Did We not create you from an abject fluid? 20 which We placed within a sure lodging 21 For a known term? 22 We then calculated; so how excellently do We control! 23 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 24 Have We not made the earth a receptacle. 25 for the living and the dead, 26 And placed therein high mountains and given you to drink sweet water therein? 27 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 28 Proceed now towards that which you were wont to deny as false; 29 Depart unto the shadow falling threefold, 30 "(Which yields) no shade of coolness, and is of no use against the fierce Blaze. 31 that shoots sparks like dry faggots, 32 As though they were camels yellow tawny. 33 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 34 This is a Day they will not speak, 35 Nor given leave to make excuses. 36 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 37 that Day of Distinction [between the true and the false, when they will be told]: "We have brought you together with those [sinners] of olden times; 38 So if you have any ploy, try it against Me! 39 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 40
