The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 Verily this is the word of a noble message-bearer; 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 And it (the Quran) is not the word of the outcast Shaitan (Satan). 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. 29
