۞ Muster those who did evil, their wives, and that they were serving, 22 other than Allah, and guide them to the Path of Hell! 23 and detain them there; they will be called to account. 24 'But what is the matter with you that you cannot help one another?,'" 25 Indeed, today they are surrendering themselves completely.” 26 And some of them inclined towards others, mutually questioning. 27 They shall say: Surely you used to come to us from the right side. 28 [To which] the others will reply: "Nay, you yourselves were bereft of all faith! 29 Moreover, we had no power at all over you: nay, you were people filled with overweening arrogance! 30 But now our Lord's word has come true against us: truly, we are bound to taste [the punishment]. 31 Therefore we perverted you, and we ourselves were perverts.' 32 Then verily, that Day, they will (all) share in the torment. 33 Lo! thus deal We with the guilty. 34 Whenever it was said to them: “There is no true deity apart from Allah,” they waxed proud 35 and said: “Shall we forsake our deities for the sake of a distracted poet?” 36 Aye! he hath come with the truth, and he confesseth to the sent ones. 37 (They will be told): “You shall taste the grievous chastisement. 38 and will be recompensed only for what you deserve. 39 But for the sincere worshipers of Allah, 40 For them is a known sustenance, 41 Fruits (Delights); and they (shall enjoy) honour and dignity, 42 In gardens of delight, 43 Facing one another on thrones. 44 There will be circulated among them a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring, 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 Wherein there is no headache nor are they made mad thereby. 47 Theirs shall be wide-eyed maidens with bashful, restrained glances, 48 As if they were (delicate) eggs closely guarded. 49 Then they will advance unto each other, mutually questioning. 50 One of them will say: “I had a companion in the world 51 Who used to say: "Are you among those who believe (in resurrection after death). 52 When we are dead and have become dust and bones, are we indeed going to be requited? 53 He said (to others on the thrones), “Will you take a glimpse (into hell) below?” 54 Then, he will look and see him in the midst of Hell. 55 'By Allah' he will say, 'you almost destroyed me! 56 And had it not been for the favor of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought up. 57 What then, shall we not die 58 Save our first death, and are we not to be tormented? 59 Truly, this is a great victory!" 60 For the like of this, then, let the workers work. 61 Is Paradise a better accommodation or the tree of zaqqum? 62 We have appointed it as a trial for the evildoers. 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-Fire: 64 its spathes are as the heads of Satans, 65 Truly they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 then in addition to it they shall have a draught of boiling water to drink; 67 Then to Hell they will surely be returned. 68 Verily they found their fathers gone astray. 69 So they (too) were rushed down on their footsteps! 70 And there had already strayed before them most of the former peoples, 71 and We sent among them warners; 72 See how those who were warned met their end! 73 But not the chosen servants of Allah. 74
