And when the angels said, 'Mary, God has chosen thee, and purified thee; He has chosen thee above all women. 42 Maryam! be devout unto thy Lord, prostrate thyself, and bow down with them that bow down. 43 This account of something that was beyond the reach of thy perception We [now] reveal unto thee: for thou wert not with them when they drew lots as to which of them should be Mary's guardian, and thou wert not with them when they contended [about it] with one another. 44 And remember when the angels said, “O Maryam! Allah gives you glad tidings of a Word from Him, whose name is the Messiah, Eisa the son of Maryam – he will be honourable in this world and in the Hereafter, and among the close ones (to Allah).” 45 And he shall speak to men in his cradle, and as a grown man, and shall be one of the righteous." 46 Said she: "O my Sustainer! How can I have a son when no man has ever touched me?" [The angel] answered: "Thus it is: God creates what He wills when He wills a thing to be, He but says unto it, 'Be' - and it is. 47 “And Allah will teach him the Book and wisdom, and the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Bible).” 48 and he will be a Messenger to the Children of Israel. (And when he came to them he said): I have come to you with a sign from your Lord. I will make for you from clay the likeness of a bird and then I will breathe into it and by the leave of Allah it will become a bird. I will also heal the blind and the leper, and by the leave of Allah bring the dead to life. I will also inform you of what things you eat and what you treasure up in your houses. Surely this is a sign for you if you are true believers. 49 I (have come to) confirm the truth of the Torah which was sent down before me, and make certain things lawful which have been forbidden until now; and I come to you with a sign from your Lord; so be fearful of God and follow me. 50 "Verily, God is my Sustainer as well as your Sustainer; so worship Him [alone]: this is a straight way." 51 ۞ And when Jesus perceived their leaning towards unbelief, he asked: 'Who will be my helpers in the way of Allah?' The disciples said: 'We are the helpers of Allah. We believe in Allah, and be our witness that we have submitted ourselves exclusively to Allah. 52 Lord, we have believed in what You sent down and followed the Messenger. Write us among Your witnesses' 53 And they plotted, and Allah plotted, and Allah is the Best of plotters. 54
