He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 Yet you pay attention 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 And he fears, 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 then eased his path for him, 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 And produce therein corn, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 And his mother and his father 35 and his consort and his children; 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 Dust shall cover them 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
