The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 he shall call for destruction 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
