By the sun and his brightness, 1 by the moon when it follows the sun, 2 And the day when it shows it, 3 and by the night when it draws a veil over it, 4 The heavens and its architecture, 5 by the earth and Who spread it, 6 by the soul and Who shaped it 7 And inspired it (with conscience of) what is wrong for it and (what is) right for it. 8 Indeed he succeeds who purifies his ownself (i.e. obeys and performs all that Allah ordered, by following the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism and by doing righteous good deeds). 9 and failed has he who seduces it. 10 In their presumptuous insolence the Thamud called the Truth a lie 11 when the most wicked of them broke forth, 12 the Messenger of Allah said to them: '(This is) the shecamel of Allah, let her drink' 13 Then they belied him and they hamstrung her; wherefore their Lord overwhelmed them for their crime, and made it equal. 14 And He feared not the consequence thereof 15
