۞ (God will command the angels), "Gather together the unjust, their spouses, and what they had worshipped 22 "Besides Allah, and lead them to the Way to the (Fierce) Fire! 23 And stop them, for they must be questioned. 24 How is it that you are not helping one another? 25 Indeed, today they are surrendering themselves completely.” 26 And some of them inclined towards others, mutually questioning. 27 They will say, "Indeed, you used to come at us from the right." 28 They will say, "No! It was you who would not believe -- 29 We had no power over you. In fact, you were a people rebellious. 30 So the word of our Lord has come into effect upon us; indeed, we will taste [punishment]. 31 we perverted you, indeed, we were perverts' 32 On that Day they will all share the punishment: 33 Surely thus do We deal with the guilty. 34 Verily when it was said unto them: there is no god but Allah, they ever grew stiff-necked. 35 And to say: What! shall we indeed give up our gods for the sake of a mad poet? 36 "Surely, he has brought the truth, confirming those who were sent before; 37 (They will be told): “You shall taste the grievous chastisement. 38 You will only be recompensed according to your deeds.” 39 But the sincere servants of God 40 For them there will be a known provision (in Paradise). 41 a variety of delicious fruits; and they shall be honoured 42 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise), 43 Facing one another on thrones. 44 A bowl shall be made to go round them from water running out of springs, 45 white and delicious to those who drink it, 46 Neither dulling the senses nor intoxicating, 47 And with them maidens of modest look and large lustrous eyes, 48 so delicate as the hidden peel under an egg's shell. 49 Then some of them will turn to others, and will ask each other. 50 One of them says, 'I had a comrade 51 who would say: "Are you among the believers (of the resurrection)? 52 (Do you think) we would be paid back our due when we are dead and reduced to dust and bones?' 53 He saith: Will ye look? 54 He looked down and saw (his friend) in the midst of Hell. 55 He said: "By Allah! You have nearly ruined me. 56 for had it not been for my Sustainer's favour, I would surely be [now] among those who are given over [to suffering]! 57 But then, [O my friends in paradise,] is it [really] so that we are not to die 58 [again,] beyond our previous death, and that we shall never [again] be made to suffer? 59 “This is, most certainly, the supreme success.” 60 For the like of this let all strive, who wish to strive. 61 So is this welcome better, or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 We have made this (tree) a trial for the evildoers. 63 Lo! it is a tree that springeth in the heart of hell. 64 Its spathes are like the heads of satans. 65 They will eat and fill their bellies with it, 66 then in addition to it they shall have a draught of boiling water to drink; 67 They can only return to hell. 68 They found their father going astray 69 So in their footsteps they are being hastened on. 70 And there had already strayed before them most of the former peoples, 71 We had certainly sent warners to them. 72 Then see the nature of the consequence for those warned, 73 Only Our sincere servants were saved. 74
