S (Saad)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Sad, and by the Qur'an full of exhortation! 1 But the unbelievers are still full of pride and hostility. 2 How many a generation We destroyed before them, and they cried out when it was no longer the time for escape! 3 And they were surprised that a Herald of Warning came to them from among themselves; and the disbelievers said, “He is a magician, a great liar!” 4 Has he made the gods one single God? This is truly astounding.” 5 And the chief persons of them break forth, saying: Go and steadily adhere to your gods; this is most surely a thing sought after. 6 We never heard of it in the former faith. It is surely a fabrication. 7 Has the message been revealed to him out of [all of] us?" Rather, they are in doubt about My message. Rather, they have not yet tasted My punishment. 8 Do they possess the treasures of your Lord, the Most Mighty, the Great Bestower? 9 Is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, for them? So would they not just ascend using ropes? 10 (As they denied Allah's Message) they will be a defeated host like the confederates of the old times (who were defeated). 11 The people of Nuh and Ad, and Firon, the lord of spikes, rejected (apostles) before them. 12 And Samood and the people of Lut and the dwellers of the thicket; these were the parties. 13 not one [was there] but gave the lie to the apostles - and thereupon My retribution fell due. 14
