The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ THE MOST GRACIOUS 1 has imparted this Qur'an [unto man]. 2 He created the human being 3 He has imparted unto him articulate thought and speech. 4 The sun and the moon run on their fixed courses (exactly) calculated with measured out stages for each (for reckoning, etc.). 5 the stars and the trees bend in prostration. 6 He raised the heaven on high and set the scale. 7 So that none may err against the scales, 8 And establish weight in justice and do not make deficient the balance. 9 He positioned the earth for all the creatures: 10 In which are fruits, and covered dates. 11 And grain covered with husk, and fragrant flowers. 12 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 13 He created man of clay like the potter's, 14 and jinn from the many colored flames of fire. 15 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 16 Lord of the Two Easts, Lord of the Two Wests, 17 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 18 He has let loosed the two seas (the salt water and the sweet) meeting together. 19 [yet] between them is a barrier which they may not transgress. 20 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 21 Out of them come pearls and coral. 22 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 23 His are the lofty ships, that rear aloft on the sea like mountains. 24 Which of the favours of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 25
