Have you heard the story of Abraham's honoured guests? 24 When they came to him they said, "Peace!" He answered, "Peace!" [saying to himself]. "They are strangers." 25 Then he went back to his family and brought a fat roasted calf 26 And placing it before them said: "Won't you eat?" 27 Then he conceived a fear about them, and they said: 'Have no fear', and gave him the glad tidings that he was to have a knowledgeable son. 28 Then his wife drew near vociferating, and smote her face, and said: an old barren woman! 29 They said, "This is true but your Lord has said, (that you will have a son); He is All-wise and All-knowing". 30 ۞ He said: "What is then your business, O messengers?" 31 They replied, "We have been sent to a sinful people 32 "To bring on, on them, (a shower of) stones of clay (brimstone), 33 They are transgressors in the presence of your Lord". 34 So We brought out whoever was in the cities of the believers. 35 But did not find more than a single family of believers. 36 We left therein evidence for those who fear the painful torment. 37 There is also evidence (of the Truth) in the story of Moses when We sent him to the Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 but he turned his back with his Assembly, saying: 'He is (either) a sorcerer or a mad man' 39 Then We laid hold of him and his hosts and flung them into the sea, and he was reproachable. 40 There is also a Sign for you in (the story of) Ad, when We let loose upon them an ominous wind 41 which spared nothing of what it came upon, but caused [all of] it to become like bones dead and decayed. 42 And in Thamood it was said to them: 'Take your enjoyment for awhile' 43 But they insolently defied the Command of their Lord: So the stunning noise (of an earthquake) seized them, even while they were looking on. 44 They were unable even to stand up or protect themselves. 45 And [We destroyed] the people of Noah before; indeed, they were a people defiantly disobedient. 46
