The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
