The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Cloaked one, 1 Arise, and warn. 2 And thine Lord magnify! 3 And thine inner self purify! 4 and defilement flee! 5 And do not favour others in order to receive more. 6 and persevere for your Lord's sake. 7 When the trumpet is sounded,. 8 It will be a day of distress, 9 Dolorous for the unbelievers. 10 Let Me alone with him whom I created lonely. 11 And then bestowed upon him ample means, 12 And sons present by his side. 13 And made (life) smooth for him. 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give yet more! 15 Not at all! Surely, he has been disobedient to Our verses. 16 On him I shall impose a fearful doom. 17 Indeed he thought, and inwardly decided. 18 So accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 19 Again (self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! - 20 Then looked he, 21 Then frowned he and showed displeasure. 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; 24 It is nothing but the word of a mortal' 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 - Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is! - 27 It does not allow anyone to live, and neither does it leave anyone to die; 28 It glows and burns the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen (guards). 30 We have not appointed any one but angels as keepers of Hell, and their number that We have fixed is to make it a means of contention for disbelievers, so that those who were given the Book may be certain, and the faith of the believers may have greater increase, and the people of the Book and believers may not be deceived, and the sceptics and infidels may say: "What does God mean by this parable?" That is how God leads whosoever He will astray, and guides whosoever He will. None knows the armies of your Lord save Him self. This is no more than reminder for mankind. 31
