He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 For him who does not care, 5 to a rich man, 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 We send down abundant water, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 And fruit and grass - 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 wife and sons, 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 Dust shall cover them 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
