Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 In an elevated garden, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 and goblets set forth 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
