The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 and fruit abounding, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 loving and of equal age. 37 for the people of the right hand 38
