So, when the envoys came to the folk of Lot, 61 he said, "You are strangers [to me]." 62 They said, "But we have come to you with that about which they were disputing, 63 And bring thee the Truth, and lo! we are truth-tellers. 64 So set out with your family during a portion of the night and follow behind them and let not anyone among you look back and continue on to where you are commanded." 65 We communicated to him Our decree that the guilty ones would be destroyed by the morning. 66 And the people of the town came rejoicing. 67 He said, 'These are my guests; put me not to shame, 68 And fear Allah, and humiliate me not. 69 They replied, "Did we not forbid you to bring anyone to your house?" 70 He said: these are my daughters, if act ye must. 71 By thy life, in their intoxication they were wandering bewildered. 72 So the shriek seized them at sunrise. 73 And We turned the township upside down and rained upon them stones of heated clay. 74 There are great Signs in this for those endowed with intelligence. 75 it is still there on the highway -- 76 surely in that is a sign for believers. 77 And the Companions of the Wood were also wrong-doers; 78 So We inflicted retribution on them, and they are both, indeed, on an open road (still) pursued. 79
