And they ask you about Dhul-Qarnain. Say: "I shall recite to you something of his story." 83 We established him in the land and gave him means to all things. 84 Then he followed a way. 85 To the extent that when he reached the setting-place of the sun, he found it setting in a muddy spring, and found a nation there; We said, “O Zul-Qarnain – either punish them or choose kindness for them.” 86 He submitted, “Regarding one who has done injustice, we shall soon punish him – he will then be brought back to his Lord, Who will punish him severely.” 87 But as for him who believeth and doeth right, good will be his reward, and We shall speak unto him a mild command. 88 He travelled again 89 until, when he reached the rising of the sun, he found it rising upon a people for whom We had not appointed any veil to shade them from it. 90 It was so, for We were fully informed about him. 91 He then followed (another) road 92 Until, when he reached (a tract) between two mountains, he found, beneath them, a people who scarcely understood a word. 93 They said, "O Dhu'l-Qarnayn! Gog and Magog are causing corruption in the land, so may we pay you tribute on condition that you set a barrier between us and them?" 94 He said: That in which my Lord has established me is better, therefore you only help me with workers, I will make a fortified barrier between you and them; 95 Bring me ingots of iron!' Until, when he had made all level between the two cliffs, he said, 'Blow!' Until, when he had made it a fire, he said, 'Bring me, that I may pour molten brass on it.' 96 So they were unable either to scale it or pierce it. 97 He said, 'This is a mercy from my Lord. But when the promise of my Lord comes to pass, He will make it into powder; and my Lord's promise is ever true.' 98 ۞ On that Day, We shall let them surge against each other like waves and then the Trumpet will be blown and We shall gather them all together. 99 We will fully expose the view of hell on that Day to the disbelievers, 100 The ones whose eyes were covered from My remembrance, and who could not bear to hear Truth. 101
