I told them, "Messengers, eat from the pure things and act righteously; I know all that you do. 51 And verily, this community of yours is one single community, since I am the Sustainer of you all: remain, then, conscious of Me! 52 Yet they have split their affairs between themselves into sects, each rejoicing in what it has. 53 So leave them in their bewilderment for a while. 54 Do they assume that the wealth and sons which We provide them – 55 We would hasten them on in every good? Nay, they do not understand. 56 Indeed, they who are apprehensive from fear of their Lord 57 And those who in the signs of their Lord do believe. 58 And those who with their Lord associate not anyone. 59 And those who give that which they give with hearts afraid because they are about to return unto their Lord, 60 These race for the good things, and they shall win them in the race. 61 We charge no soul with more than it can bear. We have a record which clearly shows the truth and they will not be wronged. 62 But their hearts are in ignorance of this (Koran); and they have deeds besides that which they are doing. 63 Until, when We grasp those of them who lead a luxurious life with punishment, behold! They make humble invocation with a loud voice. 64 Supplicate not this day! Assuredly ye will not be helped by Us. 65 Surely My signs have been rehearsed unto you, and upon your heel ye were wont to draw back. 66 being proud against it, talking foolishness by night. 67 Did they never ponder over this Word (of God)? Or has he (to wit, the Messenger) brought something the like of which did not come to their forefathers of yore? 68 Or do they not recognise their Messenger, that they deny him? 69 Or do they say: "There is madness in him"? Nay, he has brought them the truth - and the truth do most of them detest! 70 Had the truth followed their caprices, the heavens and the earth and whosoever in them is had surely corrupted. Nay, We brought them their Remembrance, but from their Remembrance they turned. 71 Or do you, [O Muhammad], ask them for payment? But the reward of your Lord is best, and He is the best of providers. 72 And indeed you call them to the Straight Path. 73 And lo! those who believe not in the Hereafter are indeed astray from the path. 74 ۞ And even if We gave them mercy and removed what was upon them of affliction, they would persist in their transgression, wandering blindly. 75 And indeed We grasped them with punishment, so neither did they submit themselves to their Lord, nor do they cry humbly. 76 To the extent that when We opened the gate of a severe punishment for them, they thereupon lie despairingly in it. 77
