The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 and clustered bananas, 29 and continuous shade, 30 And water poured out 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And couches raised up. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 And made them virgins. 36 full of love, well-matched 37 for those on the Right, 38
