۞ We gave Abraham aforetime his rectitude -- for We knew him -- 51 When he said unto his father and his folk: What are these images unto which ye pay devotion? 52 They said: We found our fathers worshipping them. 53 He said, "Both you and your fathers have certainly been in error." 54 They said, “Have you brought the Truth to us, or are you just making fun?” 55 He said, "[No], rather, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth who created them, and I, to that, am of those who testify. 56 And [he added to himself.] "By God, I shall most certainly bring about the downfall of your idols as soon as you have turned your backs and gone away!" 57 He broke them all into pieces, except their great one so that they might return to it. 58 'Who has done this to our gods' they exclaimed. 'He must surely be a harmdoer' 59 They said: We heard a youth called Ibrahim speak of them. 60 They said, “Therefore bring him in front of the people, perhaps they may testify.” 61 They asked, "Abraham, did you do this to our idols?" 62 He replied, "I think the biggest among them has broken the smaller ones. Ask them if they are able to speak". 63 Then they turned to themselves and said: Surely you yourselves are the unjust; 64 Then they were made to hang down their heads: Certainly you know that they do not speak. 65 He said: worship ye, then, beside Allah, that which profiteth you not at all, nor it hurteth you? 66 Fie on you and on what you serve besides Allah; what! do you not then understand? 67 They said: Burn him and help your gods, if you are going to do (anything). 68 We said: O fire! be a comfort and peace to Ibrahim; 69 They desired to outwit him; so We made them the worse losers, 70 And We rescued him and Lout (Lot) to the land which We have blessed for the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns). 71 We granted him Isaac and Jacob as a gift and helped both of them to become righteous people. 72 And We made them into leaders to guide people in accordance with Our command, and We inspired them to good works, and to establish Prayers and to give Zakah. They worshipped Us alone. 73 To Lot We gave wisdom and knowledge and delivered him from the city which practiced abomination. They were indeed a wicked people. 74 And We admitted him into Our mercy; indeed he is among those who deserve Our proximity. 75
