The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 like hidden pearls, 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 and spreading shade 30 Gushing water, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 We have made them virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
