The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the angels who drag forth vehemently. 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 A Day shall come whereon the quaking will quake, 6 and will be followed by another quaking. 7 Hearts that Day will be in agitation; 8 Eyes be lowered in submission. 9 They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]? 10 even after we are fragmented bones' 11 They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. 12 Indeed, it will be but one shout, 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 when his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa, 16 Go to Firon, surely he has become inordinate. 17 and say to him: 'Are you willing to be purified, 18 And that I guide you to your Lord, so you should fear Him? 19 Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign. 20 Yet he belied and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned away in a hurry, 22 And he gathered [his people] and called out 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Lo! herein is indeed a lesson for him who feareth. 26
