The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe unto the defrauders: 1 those who, when they take from others by measure, take their full share; 2 Whereas when they give others after measuring or weighing, they give them less! 3 Do they not realize that they will be resurrected 4 unto a mighty day 5 A Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 NAY, VERILY, the record of the wicked is indeed [set down] in a mode inescapable! 7 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Sijjin is? 8 A record of misdeeds written. 9 Woe, that Day, to those that deny- 10 Those that deny the Day of Judgment. 11 And none gives the lie to it but every exceeder of limits, sinful one 12 When Our Signs are rehearsed to him, he says, "Tales of the ancients!" 13 No indeed; but that they were earning has rusted upon their hearts. 14 Nay, verily, from [the grace of] their Sustainer shall they on that Day be debarred; 15 Then most surely they shall enter the burning fire. 16 Then it will be said [to them], "This is what you used to deny." 17 Nay! Verily, the Record (writing of the deeds) of Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil), is (preserved) in 'Illiyyun. 18 What could let you know what the 'Illiyoon is! 19 (It is) a marked Book, 20 which the angels placed near Allah to safeguard. 21 Surely the pious shall be in bliss, 22 resting on couches, looking around. 23 and in their faces you shall know the radiance of bliss. 24 as they are given to drink of a wine sealed 25 The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah). 26 And mixed with water of Tasnim, 27 a spring at which those drawn close to God will drink. 28 Indeed, those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 and whenever they pass by them, they wink at one another [derisively]; 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 And when they saw them, they said: verily these are the strayed ones. 32 Yet they were not sent as watchers over them. 33 so today those who believe shall [be able to] laugh at those who denied the truth 34 On Thrones (of Dignity) they will command (a sight) (of all things). 35 Have the unbelievers been duly rewarded for their deeds? 36
