(The nation of) Aad belied their Messengers. 123 Their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear God? 124 I am a trustworthy messenger for you: 125 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 126 For this I ask of you no wage, for my wage falls only on the Lord of the Worlds. 127 "Do you build useless monuments on every mountain 128 "And do ye get for yourselves fine buildings in the hope of living therein (for ever)? 129 And when you strike, you strike as tyrants. 130 So guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me 131 And be careful of (your duty to) Him Who has given you abundance of what you know. 132 succoured you with flocks and sons, 133 "And Gardens and Springs. 134 "Truly I fear for you the Penalty of a Great Day." 135 They replied: 'It is the same to us whether you admonish or whether you are not one of the admonishers. 136 “This is nothing but the tradition of former people.” 137 And we are not going to be tormented. 138 Eventually they gave the lie to him and We destroyed them. Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 139 And verily thy Lord? He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
