The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Was there not a period of time when man was nothing worth mentioning? 1 Indeed We have created man from mixed semen; in order to test him – We therefore made him hearing, knowing. 2 Indeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or be he ungrateful. 3 We have indeed kept prepared chains, and shackles and a blazing fire for the disbelievers. 4 As to the Righteous, they shall drink of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Kafur,- 5 From a spring of which the votaries of God will drink and make it flow in abundance. 6 They perform (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil flies far and wide. 7 And they feed with food, for love of Him, the needy, and the orphan and the captive. 8 We only feed you for Allah's sake; we desire from you neither reward nor thanks: 9 we fear from our Lord a Day that shall be long and distressful.” 10 So Allah saved them from the evil of that Day, and gave them Nadratan (a light of beauty) and joy. 11 And reward them, because they were patient, with garden and silk, 12 There they will recline on elevated couches and will be subjected neither to the burning heat of the sun nor to bitter cold. 13 And near above them are its shades, and its [fruit] to be picked will be lowered in compliance. 14 And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and goblets of crystal,- 15 (Bright as) glass but (made) of silver, which they (themselves) have measured to the measure (of their deeds). 16 And they shall be given to drink from a cup whose mixture is ginger, 17 Which is a spring in Paradise called Salsabeel. 18 ۞ And round about them will (serve) boys of everlasting youth. If you see them, you would think them scattered pearls. 19 wherever you look, you will see bliss and a great kingdom: 20 Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and thick silk interwoven with gold, and they shall be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall make them drink a pure drink. 21 This will be their reward and their efforts will be appreciated. 22
