The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 will be easy, 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
