And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 He said: "Do they hear you, when you call (on them)? 72 "Or do they benefit you or harm you?" 73 They said: nay; but we found our fathers doing in this wise. 74 He said, "Do you see these - whom you worship?" 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 who created me; and He guides me, 78 "And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink. 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 And who, I hope, will condone my faults on the Day of Judgement. 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Paradise of Delight; 85 Forgive my father. He has gone astray. 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 "The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; 89 "To the righteous, the Garden will be brought near, 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 Other than Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?" 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 They shall say while they contend therein: 96 "'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest, 97 When we made you equal to the Lord of the worlds; 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 and we have no intercessors now, 100 nor any loving friend. 101 "So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!" 102 There is certainly a sign in that, but most of them would not believe: 103 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 104
