The 'Ad (people) rejected the messengers. 123 when their brother Hud said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 124 Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger. 125 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 126 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns, and all that exists). 127 "Do you build high palaces on every high place, while you do not live in them? 128 "And do you get for yourselves palaces (fine buildings) as if you will live therein for ever. 129 And when ye seize, ye seize like unto tyrants. 130 So fear God, and obey me; 131 and fear Him who has succoured you with what you know, 132 amply provided you with flocks, and children, 133 "And Gardens and Springs. 134 Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a dreadful Day' 135 [But] they answered. "It is all one to us whether thou preachest [something new] or art not of those who [like to] preach. 136 this is nothing but the habit of the ancients, 137 "And we are not the ones to receive Pains and Penalties!" 138 And they denied him, so We destroyed them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 139 Surely your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 140
