The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And made the night a cover. 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 And the heaven will be opened it therefore becomes like gates. 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 a fitting requital, 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
