The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is covered, 1 And when the stars fall down. 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 And when souls are united, 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open; 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 I do not need to swear by the orbiting 15 that hide, 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 The one who is obeyed, and trustworthy. (Other angels obey angel Jibreel). 21 Your companion (Muhammad) does not suffer from any mental illness 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 When whither go ye? 26 It is not except a reminder to the worlds 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
