Do not the people who inherited the earth from the (earlier) inhabitants perceive that We could afflict them too for their sins if We pleased, and put seals on their hearts that they may not hear (the voice of truth)? 100 Those cities We relate to thee tidings of; their Messengers came to them with the clear signs, but they were not the ones to believe in that they had cried lies before; so God seals the hearts of the unbelievers. 101 We found most of them untrue to their covenants, indeed We found most of them to be defiant. 102 Then after them, We sent Moosa with our signs to Firaun and his court members, but they did injustice to those signs; therefore see what sort of fate befell the mischievous! 103 Moses said, 'Pharaoh, I am a Messenger from the Lord of all Being, 104 "Proper it is for me that I say nothing concerning Allah but the truth. Indeed I have come unto you from your Lord with a clear proof. So let the Children of Israel depart along with me." 105 [Pharaoh] said, "If you come with a sign, then produce it, if you are telling the truth." 106 So he cast his staff; and behold, it was a serpent manifest. 107 And he drew forth his hand, and lo! it was white to the beholders. 108
