The people of Al-Hijr denied Our apostles; 80 We showed them miracles but they ignored them. 81 They were hewing the mountains into houses, therein dwelling securely; 82 But As-Saihah (torment - awful cry etc.) overtook them in the early morning (of the fourth day of their promised punishment days). 83 And that which they were wont to count as gain availed them not. 84 And We have not created the heaven and the earth and that which is in between them save with a purpose. And verily the Hour is surely coming; so overlook thou with a seemly overlooking, 85 Lo! Thy Lord! He is the All-Wise Creator. 86 AND, INDEED, We have bestowed upon thee seven of the oft repeated [verses,] and [have, thus, laid open before thee] this sublime Qur'an: 87 Cast not thine eyes toward that which We have let classes of them to enjoy; and grieve not over them, and lower thy wing unto the believers. 88 And say: Lo! I, even I, am a plain warner, 89 even as We had sent warning to those who had divided their religion into fragments; 90 and who have broken the Scripture into fragments -- 91 Them, by thy Lord, We shall question, every one, 92 about what they did. 93 Hence, proclaim openly all that thou hast been bidden [to say,] and leave alone all those who ascribe divinity to aught beside God: 94 Indeed, We are sufficient for you against the mockers 95 Who set up along with Allah another god; presently they shall know. 96 And We already know that your breast is constrained by what they say. 97 but extol thou thy Sustainer's limitless glory and praise Him, and be of those who prostrate themselves [before Him] in adoration, 98 And serve thy Lord till the Inevitable cometh unto thee. 99
