The Romans (Al-Room)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ ALIF LAM MIM. 1 Defeated have been the Byzantines 2 In the neighbouring land. But having been conquered they will conquer 3 Within a few years. With Allah is the Decision, in the past and in the Future: on that Day shall the Believers rejoice- 4 In Allah succour. He succoureth whomsoever He will, and He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 5 [This is] God's promise. Never does God fail to fulfil His promise -- but most people do not know this; 6 They only know the superficial realities of the worldly life and they are unaware of the life to come. 7 What, have they not considered within themselves? God created not the heavens and the earth, and what between them is, save with the truth and a stated term; yet most men disbelieve in the encounter with their Lord. 8 Have they not travelled through the land and seen what end their predecessors met? They were mightier than them: they cultivated the earth more and built more upon it than these have ever built. Their own messengers also came to them with clear signs: God did not wrong them; they wronged themselves. 9 Then evil was the consequence to those who dealt in evil, because they denied the revelations of Allah and made a mock of them. 10
