a large throng from the ancients, 39 And a multitude of those (on the Right Hand) will be from the later times (generations). 40 Those on the Left: how unfortunate are those on the Left! 41 mid burning winds and boiling waters 42 And in the shadow of a burning smoke. 43 Neither cool nor pleasant. 44 Verily, before that, they indulged in luxury, 45 And were stubborn upon the great sin (of disbelief). 46 And they used to say: "When we die and become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be resurrected? 47 And also our forefathers?" 48 Say: "Indeed, the earlier and the later generations 49 "All will certainly be gathered together for the meeting appointed for a Day well-known. 50 Then you went astray, you that belied, 51 will eat from the fruit of the tree of Zaqqum, 52 And fill (your) bellies with it; 53 And shall be drinkers thereon of boiling water. 54 Drinkers even as the drinking of thirsty camels. 55 Such shall be your hospitality on the Day of Recompense. 56 We have created you: why then do you not accept the truth? 57 Did you ever consider the sperm that you emit? 58 Is it you who create it (i.e. make this semen into a perfect human being), or are We the Creator? 59 We! it is We Who have decreed death unto you all. And We are not to be outrun. 60 To transfigure you and create you in (forms) that you know not. 61 And verily ye know the first creation. Why, then, do ye not reflect? 62 Have you ever considered the seed which you cast upon the soil? 63 Is it ye who foster it, or are We the Fosterer? 64 If We pleased, We should have certainly made it broken down into pieces, then would you begin to lament: 65 'We are debt-loaded; 66 Indeed, we have been deprived of the fruits of our labour." 67 And have you seen the water that you drink? 68 Do you send it down from the clouds, or We send it down? 69 We could make it brackish, if We pleased; so why do you not acknowledge thanks? 70 Have you thought about the fire you kindle? 71 Is it you who have brought into being the tree that serves as its fuel - or are We the cause of its coming into being? 72 We, even We, appointed it a memorial and a comfort for the dwellers in the wilderness. 73 Glorify, then, (O Prophet), the name of your Great Lord. 74

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
