The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
