He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 For him who does not care, 5 to him thou attendest 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 And hath fear, 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what has God created him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 How We pour water in showers 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 and dense orchards, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 And from his mother and father, 35 wife and sons, 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
