The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 And what can make you know what is the night comer? 2 It is the piercing star. 3 There is not a soul but over it is a keeper. 4 So let man consider of what he is created: 5 he was created of gushing water 6 issuing between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Surely He is able to bring him back 8 On a Day whereon secrets shall be out. 9 He will have no strength or helper. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 And the earth which splitteth (with the growth of trees and plants) 12 BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a word that distinguishes between truth and falsehood, 13 And no trifle. 14 They are hatching up a plot, 15 And I am planning a scheme. 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
