The Thamud rejected the warnings, 23 For they said; Is it a mortal man, alone among us, that we are to follow? Then indeed we should fall into error and madness. 24 Was there none but he to whom the Reminder could be vouchsafed excluding all others? Nay; he is an insolent liar.” 25 (We told Our Messenger): “Tomorrow they shall know who is the insolent liar. 26 We shall send the she-camel as a trial for them; so watch their end with patience. 27 And tell them that the water is to be divided between them: Each one's right to drink being brought forward (by suitable turns). 28 Then they called their fellow, and he took the sword and hamstrung her, 29 So how dreadful have been My torment and My warnings. 30 Then We sent a single blast against them and they became like dry stubble which has been trampled upon. 31 And indeed, We have made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 32 The people of Lut rejected (his) warning. 33 Lo! We sent a storm of stones upon them (all) save the family of Lot, whom We rescued in the last watch of the night, 34 As a favour from Us. That is how We reward the grateful. 35 He had warned them of Our might, but they passed over the warnings. 36 And certainly they endeavored to turn him from his guests, but We blinded their eyes; so taste My chastisement and My warning. 37 And early in the morning the decreed punishment came upon them. 38 'Taste now My chastisement and My warnings!' 39 Surely We have made this Qur'an easy as a reminder. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 40
