The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Arise and warn, 2 And your Lord glorify 3 And your garments do purify, 4 And pollution shun. 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 but unto thy Sustainer turn in patience. 7 And when the trumpet is blown, 8 that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. 9 and it will not be easy for the unbelievers. 10 Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. 11 And then granted him resources in abundance. 12 and children living in his presence, 13 And made things easy for them. 14 After all that he desires that I should give more; 15 Nay! He is forward unto Our signs; 16 [and so] I shall constrain him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 Lo! He reflected, and determined -- 18 death seized him, how was his determining! 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 May he be condemned again for his schemes! He looked around, 21 Then he frowned and scowled, 22 and he turned his back and behaved arrogantly 23 and said, "This is nothing but sorcery from the ancients. 24 this is nothing but the word of a mere mortal!” 25 Him shall I fling unto the burning. 26 And what can make you know what is Saqar? 27 Naught doth it permit to endure, and naught doth it leave alone!- 28 Darkening and changing the colour of man! 29 Over it are nineteen (angels guarding). 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
